Prompt 3 - secret lives

The Peace Of The Present

I was taken on a cold day made warm by furs, laughter and togetherness.

I was carried between the pages of a journal, giving comfort on chilled and lonely nights.  Words of affection, longing and regret were murmured to me but I could not reply.

I was given when the moment was right.  The season was one of goodwill and forgiveness was possible.

Wow, Leafy, this was really beautiful and haunting. It's so brief, but it carries this tremendous impact. I found I had to read it over several times before I could gather myself enough to comment. The italicized intros were beautiful, and I loved the contrast and the way you've captured three stages of Fraser's life. Just like a snapshot, every word perfect and the images so clear and heartbreaking. Lovely stuff, kiddo.

I'm glad you thought it was effective - there were other parts too until I said rather sternly "Self, not everything has to be F/K!" and cut it right back to essentials.

Oh boy. This was gorgeous and just--thumped me in the chest.

The idea that it had--soaked up, somehow, what Bob couldn't say in person but murmured aloud on the trail, that it maybe managed to transmit that to Fraser...wow.
